2007-02-10 Development Release: CRUX 2.2.0.2 RC1 (PPC Edition)
The development team of the PowerPC port of CRUX has announced a new release candidate for the upcoming 2.2.0.2 update: "The first, and hopefully last, release candidate of CRUX PPC 2.2.0.2 is available for download. It supports Apple 32-bit and 64-bit hardware, IBM Risc/6000 and pSeries, Genesi Pegasos II and Efika, and probably runs on other MPC5200B boards and on Pegasos I with a bit of tweaking. The ports tree has been widely extended, all the known issues with the previous 2.2-alpha are solved, and the Ilenia 2.2 ports management tool is now available on the CD. Now we’re overhauling the documentation, waiting for a bit of feedback on the hardware support, and then after release, heading to 2.3." Here is the full release announcement. 2006-04-09 Distribution Release: CRUX 2.2
CRUX 2.2 final has been released: "We are happy to announce that after a long time in development, CRUX 2.2 is finally released. The highlights of this release include udev support out of the box, GCC 4.0.3, glibc 2.3.6 and X11R6.9. For more information, have a look at the release notes. We are also sad to report that Per Lidén, the creator of CRUX, has retired from the project because of personal reasons. CRUX will, however, live on as a team effort developed by the former CLC (CRUX Linux Community) team. We wish Per good luck in his future endeavours and thank him for providing a stable base for us to improve on." Read the brief release announcement on the project’s home page. CRUX 2.2, a minimalist, i686-optimised distribution for power users, is available for free download via BitTorrent: crux-2.2 (230MB).

2006-03-29 Development Release: CRUX 2.2 Test 1
Following the recent retirement of the founder of CRUX Per Liden, the i686-optimised minimalist distribution he created some 6 years ago now continues to live as a community effort. The first test of the new CRUX 2.2 has been released: "A test release of CRUX 2.2 is available for download and testing. We would appreciate testing and feedback; bugs should be reported using the bug reporting tool (flyspray) on the CRUX website. Please be aware that not all ports will likely build successfully yet, as we’ve all got limited time. Do not install this test release on a system you cannot afford to break!" The new test release includes kernel 2.6.15.6, X.Org 6.9.0, WindowMaker 0.92.0; glibc 2.3.6 and GCC 4.0.3; here is the complete release announcement. Download: crux-2.2-test1.iso (230MB, MD5).

2005-06-01 Development Release: CRUX 2.1 RC1 (PPC)
A release candidate of the PowerPC edition of CRUX 2.1 has been released for testing: "The first release candidate of CRUX PPC 2.1 is available for download. It is based on the Linux kernel 2.6.11.11, GCC 3.4.3, and glibc 2.3.5 with NPTL support. New features include support for software-raid installation through the mdadm utility, and support for upgrading from CRUX PPC 2.0.x (at your own risk!). The ISO image has only been tested on Apple 32-bit systems, but it is supposed to work on Apple 64-bit systems, Genesi Pegasos II, and on IBM pSeries based on the Power3 and 604e processors. Please try it (specially on the untested architectures, as we don’t have any more the needed hardware), any bug reports are welcome." Here is the full release announcement.
