2006-10-17 Distribution Release: DeLi Linux 0.7.1
Henry Jensen has announced the release of an updated version of DeLi Linux, a distribution designed for legacy hardware: "DeLi Linux 0.7.1 is mainly a bug-fix release. But there are also some new features: support for Microchannel (PS/2 machines) and EISA; added ’deliget’, a tool for downloading and installing packages; new packages including AbiWord 1.0.7, Fox, Xfe and XMMS. DeLi Linux is a distribution made for old hardware. Machines from 386 to Pentium I with 8 to 32 MB RAM are considered as target systems. DeLi Linux uses lightweight software wherever it is possible. Henry Jensen has announced the release of DeLi Linux 0.7, an independently developed distribution designed to run on very old computer systems (those with a minimum of 8 MB of RAM): "I am proud to announce the release of DeLi (Desktop Light) Linux 0.7. DeLi Linux is a distribution made for old hardware. Machines from i386 to Pentium I with 8 to 32 MB RAM are considered as target systems. DeLi Linux uses lightweight software wherever it is possible. Nevertheless, it also provides a graphical desktop with an office package, web browser, e-mail client, PDF viewer and games. The most important changes: based on uClibc 0.9.28; kernel 2.4.33.3; a ’stripped-down’ X.Org 7.1; a BSD-like ports system (borrowed from CRUX)." Continuing the sudden rush of mini distribution releases is the DeLi Linux project with version 0.6.1. From the changelog: "Fixed liloconfig/simple bug that causes liloconfig always to assume that /dev/hda1 is the root partition; fixed permission problems on some /dev files; added an ’Install all’ option to delipkg; added the beginning of ’delibook’; upgraded packages: SQLite 3.0.6; PHP 5.0.1; Dillo 0.8.2; IceWM 1.2.16; Sylpheed 0.9.12; OpenSSH 3.9p1...." A new version of DeLi Linux has been released: "Deli Linux 0.6 is out. We have now an easy-to-use menu driven installation, Kernel 2.2.26 and lot of other things. DeLi Linux, one of the few distributions designed for old hardware, is now available in version 0.5. From its changelog: "Enhanced delisetup. It is a (almost) complete administration tool now; new tool delipkg for installing software packages; new tool vesaconfig for configuring XFree86 with Xvesa; new xwmconfig for selecting window manager; replaced mc in the base package with the smaller mc-MP; wrote new stuff for delihelp; bugfixes in deliinstall in the root.gz disk; some cleanup of the base package."
