2006-10-26 Distribution Release: Edubuntu 6.10

Edubuntu 6.10, a distribution specifically designed for classroom use, has been released: "The Edubuntu team is proud to announce the release of Edubuntu 6.10, codenamed ’Edgy Eft’. This release includes both installation CDs and installable live CDs for several architectures. This version introduces a host of new features, an improved interface and a wide variety of new applications and desktop tools making Edubuntu 6.10 flexible and user-friendly. Highlights: the very recent versions of well-known free educational software like the KDEedu suite in version 3.5.5, GCompris 7.4, SchoolTool 0.11 and the Tux4Kids applications; GNOME 2.16; substantially faster startup and shutdown; the latest Firefox web browser; proactive security features; Evolution 2.8.0." 2006-06-01 Distribution Release: Edubuntu 6.06 LTS

Edubuntu 6.06, an Ubuntu-based distribution designed for classroom use and inclusive of long term support options, has been released: "The Edubuntu team is proud to present Edubuntu 6.06 LTS. Included in this release are installation CDs, live CDs, and combination DVDs for i386, PPC, and AMD64 architectures. Edubuntu is the education-focused counterpart of Ubuntu, offering fast, easy installation of stand-alone systems, thin clients and servers. 2006-04-22 Development Release: Edubuntu 6.06 Beta

Completing the beta release feast of Ubuntu sub-projects is Edubuntu 6.06: "The Edubuntu team is happy to announce the release of Edubuntu 6.06 LTS Beta. Aside from the usual install CDs for all architectures, this release includes the Edubuntu live CD that comes with a new live installer to install the Edubuntu Workstation flavour directly to the disk. Edubuntu is a classroom distribution, shipping with a selection of educational applications and built around LTSP the linux terminal server project." 2005-12-19 Development Release: Edubuntu 6.04 Flight CD 2

Following the recent release of new Ubuntu "Dapper" development CDs, the Edubuntu project has also released its "Flight CD": "As always, a little later than the other Ubuntu flavours, the Edubuntu team is happy to announce the first milestone CD image in the Dapper development cycle. Apart from the notable changes in this release that apply to all Ubuntu flavours, the following additional enhancements have gone into this CD images: themed graphical login manager for the LTSP clients; preparation for the Ubuntu boot splash on LTSP clients; support for multiple architectures; the first Edubuntu live CD has finally made it, it contains all of the Edubuntu workstation install and is available for all 3 supported architectures." 2005-10-13 Distribution Release: Edubuntu 5.10

The inaugural release of Edubuntu, a new member of the Ubuntu family of projects, has been released: "The Edubuntu team is proud to announce the first Edubuntu release Edubuntu 5.10. The Edubuntu 5.10 release consists of an Install CD for the PC (Intel x86), 64-bit PC (AMD64) and PowerPC (Apple iBook and Powerbook, G4 and G5) architectures. Edubuntu is a flavour of the Ubuntu operating system, which is optimised for classroom use. It has been developed in collaboration with teachers and technologists around the world. The aim of Edubuntu is that an educator with limited technical knowledge and skill should be able to set up a computer lab, or establish an on-line learning environment, in an hour or less, and then administer that environment without having to become a fully-fledged Linux geek." 2005-09-12 Development Release: Edubuntu 5.10 Preview

Edubuntu is a partner project of Ubuntu Linux, a distribution suitable for classroom use. A preview of the project’s upcoming release 5.10 "Breezy Badger" has been released for download and testing: "The Edubuntu team is proud to announce the Preview Release of Edubuntu 5.10. This is the beta release for the new distribution, Edubuntu - code named ’Breezy Badger’. ... Principal design goals of Edubuntu are centralized management of configuration, users, and processes, together with facilities for working collaboratively in a classroom setting."
