2007-03-10 Development Release: Elive 0.6.5 (Unstable)
A new development build of Elive has been released for testing. What’s new? "Now os-prober (the finder of other systems on your computer to add them to the boot menu selector) recognizes your Windows partitions and recognizes Elive partitions like ’Elive’; a new installer has been implemented (version 3.2), with better code, more features, and all old bugs fixed; JFS support; extra help: the installer now instructs users how to partition and install the system way better than before; Windows partitions are now recognized on /mnt like windows_c, windows_d, etc; section ’Anti War’ of Elive’s bookmarks removed due to miscellaneous reasons." A new development release of Elive is out: "Elive 0.6.4 development released. A fresh new version with nice fixes: GIMP, bug fixed: some people had GIMP launch problems; installer, bug fixed: Memtest and graphical GRUB working for people with separate /boot partitions; Cinelerra updated: with some fixes and new hotkeys added; burners: fixed the problem when trying to make a DVD image; audio CDs: fixed the problem in the auto-launcher that only pops up with some audio type CDs; webcams: when you plug in a webcam, a webcam viewer is launched with special effects; NTFS: on the previous development release, great new things were implemented for NTFS, but some users found that their NTFS partitions were not mounted." An updated development build of Elive has been released for testing. What’s new? "aMSN - version 0.96 with fonts anti-aliased; generating X.Org, bug fixed; NTFS - after the lot of problems we have had with NTFS, including freezing at boot, Elive has changed to the ntfs-3g driver; VFAT/FAT32 - finally, Elive will give any users account permissions to write on a VFAT/FAT32 mount by default; installer Features - if your Master Boot Record is damaged or overtaken by another operating system, the installer auto-detects it and asks you if you would like to recover it; graphical GRUB - 800x600 pixels with many colors, animations." 2006-12-11 Development Release: Elive 0.5.5 (Unstable)
A new unstable build of Elive is out: "Elive 0.5.5 development released." The release announcement hints at some reasons for the new release; as an example, those who wish to upgrade to the latest version of X.Org will find that their ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers no longer work, a new version of GCC from Debian will prevent the proprietary kernel drivers from installing successfully without recompiling the kernel, and there is also a serious bug affecting certain SCSI-emulated CD-ROMs. The new release comes with a downgraded kernel version 2.6.15.7 and several WiFi driver modules. A new development release of Elive live CD is now available for download and testing. What’s new? "Icedove is the new name for Thunderbird; many updates, the packages are updated from Debian, some of the important updates are: cdrecord, cdda2wav, dvd+rw-tools, nfs-common; Czech selection on the boot menu fixed; kernel and drivers all updated, new versions, some more drivers, all built with the actual GCC from Debian, kernel update from 2.6.18 to 2.6.18.2; Flash 9 beta; wireless bcm43xx; ATI driver updated and some little things fixed."
