2006-08-24 Development Release: Sabayon Linux 3.0 RC2 "miniEdition"

The second release candidate of the single-CD Sabayon Linux 3.0 "miniEdition" has been released. New features: "Added ’dmidecode’ (MacTel computers detection); added GUID partition table support for GRUB and Anaconda; added A20 Gate patches to GRUB to run correctly on Intel Macs; fixed KDM start-up slowness; added tmpfs to better support ATI video cards; updated WINE to 0.9.19 on x86; early Compiz start-up (it starts before KDE); fixed reiser4-gentoo-sources ebuild; removed eth1394 module." 2006-07-01 Development Release: RR4 Linux 3.0 RC1 miniEdition

The Sabayon project, which produces RR4 and RR64 Linux live DVDs based on Gentoo Linux, has created a CD edition of their product for x86 computers: "RR4 Linux 3.0 RC1 miniEdition, commonly called the ’mini’, is the CD release of the latest RR4 Linux. Features: no SMP kernel available; latest proprietary drivers from ATI (8.25.18) and NVIDIA (1.0-8762); faster boot time compared to RR4 Linux and very fast on memory constrained systems; Fluxbox available as a viable alternative to KDE 3.5.3; no extra language available by default (only English); no Stage 1, 2, 3 installation; multimedia features kept intact...." 2006-05-15 Development Release: RR64 Linux 3.0 RC1 miniEdition

The RR4/RR64 Linux project has released a new edition of the Gentoo-based distribution for AMD64 processors. Called "miniEdition", this new live CD maintains many of the most interesting features of the full-blown RR64 Linux DVD, but keeps its size down to under 700 MB. From the release announcement: "RR64 Linux 3.0 RC1 miniEdition is the CD release of the latest RR64 Linux. The creation of this special version has been made by an automatic script that has shrunk down the whole chroot jail by removing every duplicated, useless or server-oriented package." Greatly improved stability and functionality; kernel 2.6.16.11 and glibc 2.4; KDE 3.5.2, GNOME 2.14.0; Gstreamer 0.10.4 and amaroK 1.4 beta 3 (with iPod support); out of the box USB DVD boot support and hard disk installation support; GCC 4.0.x performance level; latest Xgl and Compiz from CVS for both GNOME and KDE; latest Proprietary drivers from ATI (8.24.8) and NVIDIA (8756); X.Org 7.0.1 and optimized Fontconfig for better font performance...."
